Congratulations to the ACHS JROTC Air Rifle Team! They won the Area 3 South Air Rifle Championship for the 4th straight year. C/CSM Sebastian Zarate was the top overall shooter, and C/CPT Alex Lee was third overall. C/CSM Zarate was placed second in the prone firing position, 1st in the standing position, and 4th in the kneeling position. C/CPT Lee was second in standing, 3rd in kneeling. The team has qualified to go to the State Championship.
Congratulations to Marc Rodriguez, one of the top-scoring students at the 29th Annual Palm Beach County Academic Challenge Competition and one of six students selected for the Palm Beach County All-Star Academic Challenge Team. These all-star team will represent Palm Beach County at the Florida High School Commissioner’s Academic Challenge on April 10-12 at Walt Disney World. The Palm Beach County competition will be aired on The Education Network.
Congratulations to the the Eagles Robotics Xperience on their second place showing at the southeast regional competition in San Antonio, TX. The ATL robotics team bested 70 teams from twelve states and will advance to the world championship in St. Louis at the end of April. Construction Academy director Tim Sachse is a Dwyer Award finalist for career education. Mr. Sachse teaches building trades and construction technology classes and oversees the Eagles Nest home building project. The Pathfinder High School Scholarship Awards are presented each year to high school seniors in Palm Beach and Martin counties who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in 18 academic, vocational and athletic categories — to recognize excellence and to encourage these students to one day bring their considerable talents to the communities where each received a start on the path to a good education and a rewarding career. Pathfinders is sponsored by Cox Media Group Palm Beach, publisher of The Palm Beach Post and Palm Beach Daily News. Nominees will be interviewed on March 11 at Palm Beach Atlantic University. College scholarships of $4,000 for the first-place winner, $3,000 for the second-place winner, $2,500 for the third-place winner and $2,000 to the fourth-place winner in each category will be presented at a ceremony to be held May 7, 2014 at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. Top winners in each category will also receive the special “astrolabe” trophy, a symbol for the path each student may follow in the world and the leadership and direction each may provide for others in the future. Congratulations to our 2014 nominees!

The Atlantic Eagles Robotics team took first place at the South Florida Robotics League competition at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale on November 9.
Congratulations to junior Meera Radhakrishnan who is one of two Palm Beach County high school students selected for the Sunshine State Scholar Recognition Program. Meera was selected based on her excellence in math and science and participation in Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society. The district scholars, along with their parents and a science or math teacher of the student’s choice, will be invited to a ceremony in Orlando in early 2014. The goals of the program are to recognize student achievement and to increase the number of students with outstanding mathematics and science credentials who choose to attend Florida colleges and universities. Congratulations to Atlantic's National Merit Scholarship semifinalists Christina Ramsey, Kirill Safin and Jason Ziev, and to Christopher Demezier, National Achievement Scholarship semifinalist.
Two Atlantic Community High School teachers were selected for My Teacher, My Hero awards, history teacher David Kaitz and Lt. Col. James Rodriguez of the JROTC program. Lt. Col. Rodriguez was honored with the Educational Visionary Award at the Eighth Annual My Teacher, My Hero Gala, hosted by Inlet Grove High School on May 11.
Congratulations to English and Journalism teacher Ken Swart, a finalist for the 2013 William T. Dwyer Awards for Excellence in Education. Mr. Swart is one of 25 Palm Beach County educators and one of five high school teachers to be named as a finalist. The Dwyer Award ceremony is Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Raymond F.
