Atlantic students are invited to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre. The Alzheimer's Association will provide 7 hours of community service to students who volunteer at the event, an additional 3 hours for students who are registered to walk, and additional hours for other activities before the event.

![]() The Ocean Conservancy's 30th annual International Coastal Cleanup is Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 am to 10 am at the Sandoway House Nature Center, 142 South Ocean Blvd. Supplies will be provided and participants will earn community service hours. The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department needs volunteers to maintain trails at West Delray Regional Park on Atlantic Avenue just west of 441 (State Road 7) on the third Sunday of every month at 8 am (May 17, June 21 and July 19). The Roots Cultural Festival is sponsoring an Academic Olympics competition on Saturday, July 11, from 8 am to 2 pm at Pompey Park. The competition is open to students in grades 3 to 12. Bring canned goods and other nonperishables (peanut butter, tuna, canned meat, cereal bars, fruit cups and the like) to the cafeteria by March 11. Food will be distributed during spring break to families of Pine Grove students who receive breakfast and lunch at school. Community service hours will be awarded.

![]() Neuroscience Discovery Day on Saturday, Dec. 13 is an all-day celebration commemorating the December 2012 grand opening of the Max Planck Institute for Neuroscience. Students of all ages and adults are invited to explore interactive neuroscience activities such as Measure your Muscles, Do-it-yourself DNA, and Rewire your Brain. The celebration is free of charge and open to the public. Participate in experiments and demonstrations with neuroscientists and get a behind-the-scences look at where discoveries are born.
