Yearbook Journalism Adviser Ms. Haramis needs parent volunteers to assist with yearbook distribution during lunch periods this Monday and Tuesday, April 28 and 29. One or two parent volunteers are needed from 10:20 am to 1:00 pm each of those days. If you can help, please email Ms. Haramis at [email protected].
The Student Travel and Exchange Program is looking for families to host students from Spain for 4 weeks this summer. Students are 14 to 17 years old, and will be here June 27 through July 24.
Host families provide a place to sleep, a place at the table, and friendship. All students speak English. Excursions are provided, plus insurance and spending money. It's been a busy couple of weeks for Mr. Sachse. He presided over the ribbon-cutting at the Construction Academy's Eagle's Nest 2 project on April 10. The VP Fundraising position is open. Congratulations and thank you to the new board members, and thank you to outgoing board members Irene LaTour (President), Gina Heron-Cooper (Treasurer), Alina Leathers (Secretary), Beth Brown (VP Membership), and Molly Johnson (VP Programs/Fundraising) and other PTSA parent members who so graciously volunteered to assist the board next year! The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation is seeking volunteers to help register donors at the Delray Affair April 25 to 27.
Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation is a leading bone marrow and blood stem cell registry. For more than twenty years, Gift of Life has been helping children and adults suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, other cancers and genetic disorders find their life-saving donors for bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants. Gift of Life maintains a growing registry of 236,000 volunteer donors and has facilitated more than 2,700 transplants for patients in need. The Literary Club's final open-mic event of the school year will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the teacher dining room in the back of the cafeteria. The money raised at these coffee-house-style poetry slams is used to fund the school's literary magazine.
Junior Marc Rodriguez competed with the Palm Beach County All-Star Academic Challenge Team in Orlando April 10-12. The Palm Beach County team finished in first place in the first round, and ended the tournament in fourth place after the semi-finals. Click here for more information and a team picture. Parent and teacher/staff members interested in serving on the executive board or in assisting with other specific PTSA initiatives (including — but not limited to — arts education, legislation, health & safety, and the National PTA Reflections arts award program) should attend the April 22 meeting, or email us at [email protected]. Registration is open for the April 26 Palm Beach County Youth Summit at Gaines Park in West Palm Beach. Topics include bullying, violence prevention, employment, education, and health and nutrition. The IB department is taking orders for ads in IB Senior Celebration program. The program will be distributed to IB seniors and their families who attend the dinner celebration on May 15 at the Delray Beach Golf Club.
