IB junior Crystal Lee received a gold medal from the national Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Crystal will travel to New York City for the awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in May, and her work will be in a gallery in New York along with the other national winners. Twenty-six works of art done by Atlantic students were accepted for the local Scholastic show this year.
IB senior Trang Leminh, Atlantic's Pathfinder nominee for art, has a piece on display at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. Seniors Mar Dominguez and Irvens Fleuricin received gold medals and cash awards from the Boca Raton group Women in the Visual Arts. Both will receive cash prizes on April 7 at Sugar Sand Park where their paintings are currently on display.

At the March 19 PTSA meeting we discussed a sponsoring a school-wide Spring Cleaning Rummage Sale in late April. We polled PTSA parent members about the idea, and after considering the responses, the PTSA board has decided to table the rummage sale until next year so that we'll have more time to organize and recruit volunteers.

Atlantic Community High School parents, teachers, students and members of the Delray Beach community are invited to attend the 2nd general meeting of the ACHS PTSA on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 pm in the Media Center. We'll discuss upcoming spring programs — including a teacher appreciation breakfast and a school-wide Spring Cleaning Rummage Sale — and we invite you to bring ideas for future programs and events you'd like to see at Atlantic.
Military Ball and Prom are right around the corner, and Mrs. Maloney is taking donations of dresses for girls in need. Formal dresses appropriate for Military Ball or Prom can be delivered to Mrs. Maloney in room 5114.
Students who need dresses can see Mrs. Maloney in room 5114 to choose from the selection of 80+ dresses in all shapes, sizes and colors. Minor alterations (hemming, letting seams in or out) can be accommodated. Dresses do not need to be returned after the events. Thank you!
