Last month the school board passed a resolution recommending the state provide a three-year transition to the new Florida testing standards, with no impact on students, teachers or schools. The district is hosting public meetings to discuss the resolution and has posted an online survey for parents and others to express their opinions and concerns.
Meetings will begin with a short presentation to explain the state’s new school accountability requirements, followed by an opportunity for the public to provide input on the topic. Depending on the number of participants at each meeting, individuals will be limited to one to three minutes for comments. Note that school district staff will not be able to answer questions at the meetings. The district’s goal is to capture comments and input regarding the state’s new accountability system and provide it to the school board. Can’t make the meeting? No problem. Participants can also complete an online survey to submit comments online. Click here to learn more about the Florida Standards.
