Florida International University offers free assistance to middle and high school students with attention and organization problems. FIU’s STAND program (Supporting Teens’ Academic Needs Daily) is a parent-teen therapy program for adolescents with ADHD, ADD, and similar difficulties. Students receive training in organization, time management, and academic planning skills. Parents learn new strategies to enhance structure, monitoring, and accountability at home to promote academic success.
The program is free for qualifying students in grades 6 through 12. Families must have internet access to use the video-conferencing program. A webcam is provided for free to families who do not have one. FIU's STAND programs has a five-year track record working with more than 1,000 students in Miami-Dade County public schools and is now extending the services statewide. For more information or to apply, visit the STAND website or call (305) 348-8313 to speak with project coordinator Jaife Gonzalez.
