The 2014-2015 school calendar was approved by the school board on Dec. 18. The first day of school for students is Monday, Aug. 18. The calendar is online here.
The Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2014-2015 school year are available online now at the Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance and Federal Student Aid websites.
The FFAA is the application that is used for Bright Futures, First Generation Matching Grant Program and other state scholarship and grant programs. More information about federal financial aid is available here. The ATL class of 2014 will graduate on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 8 am. The schedule for all Palm Beach County high schools is on the school district website here. Ceremonies will be broadcast live on the school district’s TV station and website, and on the school district's Vodcast smartphone app.
Atlantic Community High School college and vocational school application completion day is Monday, November 25. Students will sign up to go to the media center computer lab where school counselors will be available to help them complete and submit at least one college or vocational school application.
Counselors will supply students with a checklist of documents and information they need to bring to the workshop. Atlantic High School will provide one free paper transcript for colleges or vocational schools that don't accept transcripts electronically, and the school will provide application fee waivers for students who qualify. For students who do not qualify for a fee waiver and for those applying to schools that do not accept fee waivers, the school will provide the first 100 students with the application fee of up to $30. The Suncoast Community High School PTSA (1717 Ave. S, Riviera Beach, FL) is hosting a college admissions information session presented by Judi Robinovitz of Score At The Top on Thursday, November 21 at 5:30 pm in the school's media center.
Judi Robinovitz is a certified educational planner specializing in educational counseling and test preparation and college planning. The presentation is open to the public. For more information please call Stacy Mechlin, President, Suncoast PTSA at 561-309-4030 Kash is a bloodhound donated to the Palm Beach County School Police Department by the Jimmy Ryce Center for Victims of Predatory Abduction. Kash (his name is an acronym for "kids are safe here") has been stationed with Officer Curtis Riddick at Atlantic High School since last year. After Kash completes his training, he and Officer Riddick will work throughout Palm Beach County to assist in finding missing and endangered children and adults. The Atlantic Community High School Student Government Association, People for Animal Welfare (PAW) Club and Parent Teacher Student Association are hosting a party for Kash on Friday, Dec. 13, during all three lunch periods in honor of his first birthday and to raise money for the Jimmy Ryce Center so the center can donate more bloodhounds like Kash to police departments across the country. Students who purchase a got Kash t-shirt will receive an exclusive invitation to Kash's birthday bash, and all proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go to the Jimmy Ryce Foundation. See your SGA representative for t-shirt ordering details. Two of Kash's brothers and his sister will be at the party, along with Jimmy Ryce Center founder Don Ryce whose son was abducted in 1995. It promises to be a fun evening of shopping, entertainment and prizes — and a great way to support our school!
